back    IPS VideoAnalytics NextGen

Description

The IPS VideoAnaylse NextGen is a powerful software for setting up intelligent video analytics for camera images. Combined with the IPS VideoManager, it can be used to create strong surveillance for critical infrastructure and highly sensitive systems that require protection with a focus on perimeter protection.

Use of the software e.g.: power generators & substations, logistics centers, food industry, correctional facilities...

Challenges

Editor interface:

UX focus on editor interface, which should be based on MaterialDesign frameworks analogous to the VM NextGen client, in an agile Scrum team.

Easy to use:

Simple drawing of detection zones using vector brush (mouse).

Drag & drop small object symbols to define rules within these zones.

High security & different scenarios:

Different properties mean different requirements. Rule definitions must cover as many scenarios as possible.

There are camera projection guidelines that must be followed.

Design Guide development:

For consistent adherence to the design language and guidance for future developments.

Focus & Philosophy

An editor that allows a user to create a monitoring rule as easily as possible.

That is, a camera image is

Zone drawn, then object symbols placed in it and thereby rules described.

A set of rules should automatically define the rules in real time and be visible at all times.

Design & Tools

The Material Design Framework from Google was used. In combination with the extremely powerful Figma tool, it was easy to create quick designs and try things out. The Material Design components were partly modified to meet our requirements.

With Figma/Figjam, both personas and a helpful information architecture were created to create clear structures.
